Multiplication Strategy: Doubling and Halving

We can simplify some multiplication problems using doubling and halving.

1. Use the strategy of doubling one factor and halving the other to help simplify and solve the following problems: Example: 5 x 16 = 10 x 8 = 80 or 5 x 16 = 10 x 8 = 20 x 4 = 80

a) 5 x 68 =340

b) 3 x 16 =48

c) 16 x 30 =480

d) 18 x 40 =720

e) 35 x 20 =700

f) 25 x 16 = 400

g) 50 x 24 =120

h) 500 x 28 =14,000

2. Does this strategy always work yes

Explain when the strategy of doubling and halving is useful to simplify a multiplication problem.

This is my maths doubling and halving follow up week 8. I have learnt how to double and half to work out maths problems. Now I can work out harder problems.

READING

This is my literacy follow up. We had to make a poster of things we use water or. I have learnt how to look after water and make the world a better place to live in.

WORD WORK

This is my word work silly sentences. They helped me upgrade my speed in typing.
